This character is played by Lynn, who also plays Finley O'Riain
Aisling O'Riain
Name: Aisling O'Riain (Dream King)
Nickname: Milis (Sweet in Gaelic)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi
Pets: None
Family:
Mother: Adelaide
Father: Athair
Siblings: Fraternal Twin Finley O'Riain
Job: Nurse/ Hunter
Looks: Aisling is a pretty creature, as well as a tiny one. Compared with her six foot two brother, she's a mere five foot two, and the striking difference amuses the twins probably more than anyone else. With gleaming golden hair to her hips, usually in a tight braid, as well as striking emerald green eyes that seem to see into peoples' souls at times, she can be quite the oddball. Her habit of wearing garishly colored clothing when not hunting tends to make people wonder if she's a little not right in the head. That clothing tends to be loose skirts and shirts, and her favorite clothing is a pair of bright pink scrubs that she wears when working with children. However, her entire wardrobe changes when she goes into hunter mode, sleek, and somewhat tight brown leather pants and boots as well as hunting vest, along with a green linen shirt. Her bow is made of aspen wood and is polished to a dark sheen with a special ebony polish she uses. Her wrist brace is a beautiful contraption made by her leatherworker father, rich brown leather with a leaping Black Panther embossed into it and carefully and painstakingly painted by her stepmother. She enjoys the irony of having the Black Panther on her wrist, especially when she assists with Stalker hunts, and she has actually added a metal banding to her brown leather quiver to give it strength and make it an additional weapon if needed.
Personality: Aisling is an oddball not only in appearance but in personality. Most of the time, she is goofy, silly and rambunctious, with just enough spunk that some have referred to her as the hyper nurse. This, however, is a facade, put in place to keep the children she acts as a nurse for from panicking and being afraid of her and the doctors she assists. Her truth right now is she's terrified. She's scared for the children, scared for her brother, and especially scared for herself. This has actually made her even more determined to make sure they all survive, and she has requested further training from one of the doctors so that she can do more than her skills as a Nurse allow.
She has also become a much better, more intense hunter, trained by her brother, and she has quickly proven herself to be an able person. She knows that food is a requirement, and that to get food, hunters are needed, since they need all their current cattle to breed more and continue to have them. So she must be a hunter, because she must help them to survive. Her love for the people around her, her need to see them kept safe and alive, is matched only by her drive to be the best she can be, her compassion and need to see their population thrive.
When it comes to men, Aisling has little experience, and she prefers it that way. She is kind of oblivious to her effect on men, and never uses her ample assets against them. She's not some simpering, useless female after all. She is Xena, Warrior Princess! She is Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. She doesn't need some MAN to be complete and order her around. Heck no.
History: Aisling was the first of twins, born minutes before her brother, Finley. They were born in Southern Ireland, raised by good, sturdy Irish parents, but when they were young, their parents divorced, and the twins lived with their mother, with occasional trips to see their father as well. In time, both parents remarried, so the twins technically have four parents rather than two. Aisling was always an energetic girl, enjoying running around and playing outside, and when Finley began his horse-riding lessons, she gladly joined in. After about a year though, she got bored with it and moved on, taking an interest in the medical field.
Both twins enjoyed reading, and at roughly thirteen, Finley discovered the world of Pern and instantly fell in love with everything about it. He would constantly regale Aisling with the stories, and she would listen tolerantly, but only with half an ear. She much preferred the terminology of the medical field, the complexity of the language and pairing it with the anatomy she was learning about in addition.
School was tough for the twins at first. Due to Finley's photosensitivity, he had to wear sunglasses inside, which was normally not allowed. This led to resentment from some of the other boys, and Finley and Aisling quickly learned how to fight as a pair, and Finley how to fight blind, as the bullies were fond of stealing his sunglasses, leaving him vulnerable to the painful light unless he closed his eyes. That blind-fighting earned him respect and the bullies left them alone after that.
When they graduated high school, the twins were faced with a difficult choice. Finley wasn't ready for college yet, wanting to raise some funds for it so as not to be as heavily in debt, but both twins have a deep-rooted fear of being separated due to their parents' divorce, which meant Aisling didn't want to go either. Then, by sheer chance, Aisling discovered the news story about NASA gathering people to send into space to escape the resource Wars going on-which they thankfully had been spared the brunt of, though they heard stories-and, since it was only a small fee for those with useful training, they managed to make their way onto the ship and prepare to be colonists. But then everything changed....
